When you pay into a pool, you're paying the event's organizer. These are the rules every pool follows, shown on the event before you pay.
Pools paid ahead (a price per person, or a down payment)
- When you pay, the amount is held on your card, not taken.
- You can back out for free until the pool's pay-by day; the hold is released.
- On the pay-by day your card is charged and the organizer is paid.
- After that, backing out doesn't give a refund automatically. Ask the organizer; they can refund you.
Paying for what you had (receipt pools)
- Your card is saved when you say you're in. Nothing is charged then.
- You pay for the items you claim, plus your share of tax and tip. Shared items are split evenly.
- Items nobody claims within 24 hours are split evenly among everyone at the meal.
- A down payment counts toward your bill; if your bill is less, the difference is refunded to your card.
When the organizer cancels or removes you
- If the organizer cancels the pool or the event, holds are released and anyone charged is refunded in full.
- If the organizer removes you from the event, you're refunded in full.
Fees
When you're refunded in full, you get back everything you paid, fees included.
